How much play should the throttle have?
A modern throttle grip with ride-by-wire requires no play at all.
The reason for this is the way it functions. While a conventional throttle grip is connected to the throttle valve via a cable, the throttle valve in ride-by-wire systems is controlled via a potentiometer in the grip, similar to a dimmer switch for a lamp. This electronic signal is then processed by a control unit, which in turn controls the opening of the throttle valve or valves.
